I made an açai bowl Friday before beach practice for some quick energy! But first, what even is açai? It's a dark purple berry found in Brazil and is one of the most popular "superfoods". Açai berries are filled with antioxidants, amino acids, and essential fatty acids. Probably the most important health benefit from these berries are that they help the heart stay healthy. In addition to how healthy this snack is, it is absolutely amazing and is definitely worth trying out! For this particular bowl, I used:
2 packs of frozen açai berries
1/2 cup frozen mix of strawberries, cranberries, and blueberries
1/4 cup almond milk
1/2 banana
1/2 cup granola
2 sliced strawberries
some honey
First, I broke the açai into chunks and cut the banana in half. In a blender I mixed the frozen berries, almond milk, and half of the banana. After the mix turned into an ice-cream like texture, I used a spatula to put all of it into a bowl. Then I put some granola on top, placed the sliced strawberries on, and drizzled the whole bowl with some honey.
It was so delicious! It's definitely my favorite snack to eat when I'm hungry. It's filling, yet not too heavy. Thanks for reading! ❤, Audrey
